Stay inspired in the word.

Greetings,

Has God ever done the impossible, and surprised you with an unexpected blessing that came in an unusual way or place? What about through someone you weren’t expecting Him to use?

Isaiah 41:17-18 (NKJV) - "The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. [18] I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water.”

In this text, God was referring to the arid desert wilderness Israel passed through on their way to the Promise Land. But He promised to turn it into a pool of water and the dry land into springs of flowing water. That’s something you would never expect to see in this desert region, but God did it! He always keeps His Word.

Father, I thank You for unexpected favor and for blessings in unusual places and circumstances. Thank You for things that I never dreamed would ever come my way that are going to appear because of Your goodness to me. You are such a GOOD GOD!

How should we respond in times of great concern and uncertainty? Is it even rational for a believer not to have some degree of fear? Are we acting wisely by refusing to cower before our enemy? Shouldn’t we be hyperventilating and suffering panic attacks like everyone else? Some would argue that it is foolhardy not to be afraid. Listen to what God has to say:

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) – “FEAR NOT, for I am with you; BE NOT DISMAYED, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

When we encounter a dangerous circumstance, fear can help us make the right decision in that moment. It is a normal response to an immediate threat. However, God doesn’t want us to live in terror or dread all the time. He reminds us that He is with us, He will help us, and He will uphold us. So, why should we live in fear?

Father God, today I thank You for being my strength in times of adversity and my Source in time of need. Because You are with me, no matter what I face, I know I will prevail—and for this I give You praise!

Worry is the enemy trying to disturb our sense of peace. King Sennacherib sent a threatening letter to Hezekiah, king of Judah. Have you ever felt as though the enemy was sending you a ‘warning letter’? He loves to frighten us doesn’t he? By causing us to worry, he plans to weaken our faith. Worry and faith are exact opposites. But notice what Hezekiah did with his letter from the enemy:

Isaiah 37:14-15, 17 (NKJV) – “And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. [15] Then Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, saying: ... [17] Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.”

Take your feelings of fear and doubt to God. As Hezekiah did, lay them before the Lord in prayer and let Him fix it for you!

Father, I thank You for peace today. I lay every concern that I have before You. That means that every uncertainty about my future, health, finances, family or any other issues that I face, I am submitting to You. I am grateful for the peace of God that is filling my heart and mind right now. I love You and focus my thoughts on You!

What are the judgments of God? We read in Isaiah 26:9 (NKJV) – “With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”

Isaiah desired God and His “judgments.” Did that mean he was asking God to punish humanity for doing wrong? Oh, no! Not one among us is without some fault or error. I shudder when I hear people ask God to punish others, knowing how much we all deserve God’s wrath.

The word “judgments” refers to God’s divine laws. He designed these precepts for us because in His infinite infinite foreknowledge, He determined or “judged” what would be the best of all possible paths that we could take. As we learn more about those laws, we understand the difference between righteousness and evil. Those who follow God’s advice and guidance are blessed, while those who ignore and refuse to follow His ways are choosing a path that will lead to suffering and pain.  

Because Christ lives, you and I have no reason to fear God’s wrath or punishment. At Calvary, Jesus paid the price for our disobedience. Like Isaiah, when we learn more about God, it enables us to seek and to draw closer to Him, as we enjoy His divine favor upon our lives.

Thank You, Jesus, for paying the terrible debt for our sins and then rising again from the grave. I pray that You will teach me Your divine laws that I can be in alignment with Your plans for my life. Lead me according to Your judgments.
