A Light of Hope in the Community

The mission of Inspire Community Outreach is to be a light of hope in the community. We equip people with knowledge, goods, materials, and partnerships to reach, inspire, and elevate the community during a hardship or crisis.
Our Beginning: Disaster Relief

This moment marks the beginning of our Disaster Relief efforts as Christian Tabernacle—a defining point that shaped who we are today.

When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, it became more than a storm—it became a call to action. On that Sunday morning, Pastor R. Heard and Pastor Clark, along with members of the church, arrived to assess the damage. As they walked the property, Pastor Heard said: “We must do something for our community as a church.” Pastor Clark immediately began organizing efforts to gather supplies and prepare outreach. Early Monday morning, Pastor Heard called again:
“Have we opened the distribution center? The people have great needs.” The response:
“Yes—we have water available, and supplies are being donated for those in need.”

From that moment forward, the church became a place of hope, help, and healing guided by: Serve. Give. Pray.

Through strong partnerships and collaboration, this effort quickly grew into a major distribution hub along the East Houston Beltway—serving nine zip codes, multiple school districts, and thousands of families.

Community Stories

A Life Changed Through Service:
A woman came through our distribution line needing help for herself and her children. We provided support and essential supplies during a difficult season. Months later, she returned—not in need, but ready to serve. Today, she volunteers at our distribution center, helping others just as she was once helped.

Feeding a Community & More:
We partnered with the Houston Rockets organization, as the former head coach and his wife came to serve hundreds of families waiting in line. The next day, we delivered trailers of supplies to a devastated mobile home community. Families came out knowing help had arrived. Following the trailers was a pack of dogs—they were hungry too. One driver said, “I have dog food on my trailer.” And we met their needs as well. Praise God—we were able to serve them all.

I Lost Everything:
A mother of three, after Hurricane Harvey, was asked for ID and proof of residency. She wept and cried out:
“You don’t understand… I lost everything.” She described waking up to three feet of water and returning later to find all her belongings gone. We responded with compassion—helping furnish her new apartment with living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture for her children, along with a bed for herself. She lost everything—but found hope again.

From Response to Ongoing Impact:
What began with Hurricane Harvey has grown into a year-round outreach movement—serving, restoring, and strengthening communities across Houston and beyond.
